3 Days of Strike Action-Cleaners and Caterers
What you need to know
- This initial phase of strike action is running for three days may 6* to Friday 8th
- GMB UNION apologises for any disruption the strike may cause to cleaning and meals.
- GMB members do not want to strike but they are being sacked and their hours are being reduced for cost saving.
- GMB UNIION has requested risk assessments for the restructuring from the TRUST and
OCS but these have not been provided.
- Our members are deeply concerned about the impact of a ‘slash and burn’ approach to catering and cleaning services across SLaM and the impact this will have on patients and visitors to the hospital.
- We are aware that some patients are detained under section and our members believe that they have a right to have good food and clean surroundings to aid their re-
covery.
